Here’s everything Apple just announced on Monday: its iPhone 16 Glowtime event.
Apple Watch Series 10: :Price, features
We have the brand-new Apple Watch Series Ten. The Apple Watch Series Ten has been updated with its biggest display ever, and it’s also the thinnest Apple Watch to date. Apple says it’s redesigned, but honestly, at first glance, it kind of looks the same. However, you’ll notice it’s more rounded, especially around the corners. The display is slightly bigger than the Apple Watch Ultra and is 30 percent larger than the Series 6. Larger displays show more information and make it easier to type on. The display is up to 40 percent brighter when viewed at an angle, thanks to the wide-angle OLED display. There’s also a new Jet Black color option, along with Rose Gold and Silver Aluminum.
The new Series Ten is 9.7 millimeters thin and 10 percent thinner than Series Nine. You can now play music and podcasts directly through the speaker, which is handy if you don’t have your AirPods nearby. The new watch also charges faster, reaching up to 80 percent battery in 30 minutes. The Apple Watch Series Ten comes in a new titanium finish, replacing stainless steel. It’s polished to a glossy finish and comes in Natural Gold and Dark Slate Gray.
This lineup is powered by the S Ten chip and includes new intelligence features for your smart stack and translation app, along with new health features. The Series Ten can now alert users to sleep apnea by using the accelerometer to monitor breathing disturbances throughout the night. This feature tracks data over 30 days to analyze whether you have sleep apnea and provides recommendations for next steps. The built-in depth gauge is also present, allowing you to monitor water temperature while swimming, snorkeling, or diving.
The Apple Watch Series 10 starts at $399, or $409 for the cellular model, and is available for pre-order now, with shipping starting on September 20.
Apple Watch Ultra 2 :price, features
Apple also added a new satin Black Apple Watch Ultra Two, not Three. There’s no update, just a new color option for the previous generation. There’s also a new titanium Milanese loop for the Apple Watch Ultra, for you fancy folks out there. Additionally, there’s a new Hermès band for the Apple Watch Ultra. It will start at $799 as usual, and pre-orders are available now, with deliveries coming next Friday.
AirPods 4: price, features.
The new AirPods 4 were officially announced and have been redesigned to feature a more comfortable fit, including the H-TW chip. The charging case has also been updated to feature USB-C and delivers 30 hours of battery life even in a smaller case. A secondary AirPods 4 model was also announced, featuring active noise cancellation (ANC) and transparency mode for the first time on non-Pro AirPods. You can easily toggle between these modes, or use the adaptive audio feature to let it adjust automatically.
The new high-end AirPods 4 also come with conversation awareness, wireless charging, and a speaker on the case for Find My. The AirPods Four without ANC starts at $129, while the ANC version is priced at $179. Like the Apple Watches, these AirPods are available for pre-order today, with deliveries starting next week.
AirPods Max: price, features
The AirPods Max finally got an update, and just as expected, it’s mostly about new colors. You now get Midnight Blue, Purple, and Orange, as well as a Starlight option. Oh, and by the way, it no longer has the Lightning port—it now features a USB-C port, and that’s it. Pre-orders start today, and it’s still priced at $549. These new models will be shipped out next Friday.
AirPods Pro 2 : features
The AirPods Pro 2 got a somewhat surprising update today with new features focused on hearing health. For prevention, Apple is adding a hearing protection feature, basically turning your AirPods into earplugs, which is really cool. It automatically adjusts based on whether you’re playing a show or attending one, allowing you to use them as earplugs.
Apple has also introduced a hearing test for your iPhone and AirPods Pro to work together, letting you check your hearing and gain awareness. All data is privately stored in the Health app. Lastly, the AirPods Pro Two have been updated to function as a clinical-grade hearing aid. After taking the hearing test, your AirPods will automatically transform into a hearing aid tailored to your profile, adjusting the levels needed for clearer hearing.
These adjustments apply to movies, music, and phone calls without the need for manual changes. The new features will be available in a software update later this fall, so no need to buy new AirPods Pro Two—just update your software.
iPhone 16 lineup : price, features
We have the new iPhone 16 lineup, and starting with the standard iPhone 16 models, we immediately notice the new colors popping with that color-infused back glass, now available in ultramarine, teal pink, and of course, white and black options. The screen has been updated to offer 2,000 nits of peak brightness outdoors, and the iPhone 16 now includes the customizable Action Button, previously seen on the iPhone 15 Pro models last year. There’s also a new Camera Control button, which allows you to adjust various camera settings by sliding your finger or using different press gestures.
The iPhone 16 is powered by the new A18 chip and features a 16-core neural engine optimized for Apple Intelligence features. Specs include a six-core CPU that is 30% faster than the iPhone 15 and 60% faster than the iPhone 12, while using 30% less power for greater energy efficiency. As for the GPU, it boasts a five-core GPU that’s 40% faster and uses 35% less power than the previous model.
Apple also covered several Apple Intelligence features introduced at WWDC, such as Jenmoji Image Playground, faster image searching in the Photos app, creating memory movies, and updated Siri with personal context. Apple Intelligence will launch next month with limited language support, with more coming throughout the year.
As for the iPhone 16’s camera, it includes a new visual intelligence feature tied to the Camera Control button. For example, if you’re out walking and spot a restaurant, simply press the Camera Control button, point it at the restaurant, and click to get a card with all the relevant information. The same applies to event flyers, which can automatically be added to your calendar. This feature will support third-party tools like ChatGPT and Google Search later in the year.
In terms of camera functionality, Apple highlighted that the Camera Control button can quickly launch the camera app, take photos, and shoot videos with capacitive touch gestures. A light press reveals a clean UI of the shot, while swiping allows you to adjust zoom or other settings like depth of field. Additionally, third-party apps like Snapchat will support Camera Control. With the camera design now shifting from diagonal to vertical, the iPhone 16 and 16 Plus can also take spatial photos and videos to be enjoyed on Apple Vision Pro.
Finally, the iPhone 16 features a larger battery, and when combined with the power efficiency of the A18 chip, it offers a noticeable improvement in battery life. The iPhone 16 starts at $799, and the 16 Plus models start at $899 for the base 128GB storage option.
iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max: price, features.
The new iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max come with screen sizes of 6.3 inches for the 16 Pro and 6.9 inches for the Pro Max. The bezels have been greatly reduced, allowing for the size increase without significant changes to the form factor. The frame is still made from titanium, now available in black, white, natural, and a new desert titanium gold color. For those wondering, I actually like this new color, but I think the Pro colors could use a bit more excitement in the future. I’d love to hear your thoughts on these colors in the comments.
The iPhone 16 Pro Max is also boasting significant battery improvements, claiming to have the best battery life ever, which is why I’m choosing it for the best longevity. Both the iPhone 16 Pro Maxare powered by the A18 Pro chip, which is faster and more efficient than last year’s A17 Pro. The new CPU is being touted as the fastest CPU in any smartphone.
Both models feature a new 48-megapixel Fusion camera for the main wide-angle sensor and a 48-megapixel Ultra-Wide sensor. The tetraprism periscope lens now brings optical 5x zoom to the standard Pro model, not just the Pro Max. There are also new photographic styles that allow you to customize the tone and color, with the option to adjust the styles after capturing the photo. Navigating these styles is easy using the Camera Control button, which lets you swipe back and forth.
The iPhone 16 Pro now supports 4K, 120 frames per second slow-motion video thanks to the new 48-megapixel Fusion sensor, and you can capture 4K, 120 frames per second log video directly to an external storage device. You can also adjust the frame rate after recording in the Photos app. It also comes with four studio-quality mics for spatial audio capture, perfect for use with AirPods and Apple Vision Pro.
Apple also introduced a new Audio Mix feature that uses machine learning to isolate background noise from what’s happening in the frame, ensuring a clearer audio recording. There’s also Cinematic Audio mode, which intelligently blends background and in-frame noise for optimal sound quality. In the Voice Memos app, you can now record a note and layer additional audio, like a guitar track and vocals, for future reference. Lastly, Apple announced new MagSafe cases designed to work seamlessly with the new Camera Control feature, along with a new MagSafe charger that offers faster wireless charging in two sizes. The iPhone 16 Pro starts at $999 for the 128GB base model, while the Pro Max starts at $1,199 for the 256GB storage model. Pre-orders start this Friday, with shipments beginning on September 20th
