Samsung Galaxy S24 FE: Update New Features.

The most popular phone this festive season has been the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE, and we all know why. Now, we have the upgrade—the Samsung Galaxy S24 FE (Fan Edition). This phone represents the biggest upgrade to the FE lineup that Samsung has made to date—and quite literally at that! If you’re wondering why and how it is the biggest update, stay tuned.

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE : Design

The Galaxy S24 FE design, and you can tell that this is a Samsung phone. Of course, you get a glass sandwich structure with an aluminium frame that holds it sturdily, and the similarity that’s across Samsung phones is these three camera rings that have been aligned vertically in a straight line. But the two things that stood out to me in the design are that this is no longer a small phone; it’s a bigger phone now, plus it’s extremely well-built. In fact, I think that it’s actually as sturdy as any Samsung Galaxy S Series phone.

Now, talking about the size, this phone is actually slightly larger than even the S24 Plus. Now, talking about sturdiness, of course, you get the standard IP68 rating, but the glass on the rear and the front has been fortified by Corning Gorilla Glass Victus Plus, which is an upgrade from Gorilla Glass 5 on the Samsung Galaxy S23 FE.

So if I do this, wow, see this, nothing. Now, while the phone is big, it also weighs around 213g, but the weight distribution has been done fairly well for you to not feel it weighing down on your hand, and it’s comfortable to hold and use as well. But of course, it’s not going to be easy to use with a single hand, but what I do like about the S24 FE is that the edges are very well-rounded and they don’t dig into your palms.

My only tiny gripe with the design has to be the fact that the power button and the volume rocker are placed slightly higher than I would have liked. It takes a little bit of learning curve, but once you learn it, it’s okay. Now, I do like this blue color variant that Samsung has sent over, but the Mint one is my favorite.

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE : Display

The display has also gone up in size now, so you get a 6.7-inch panel, but it’s a quality Samsung panel with 120 HZ of refresh rate and HDR content playback as well. When we checked, support for HDR is also available on Netflix. Samsung has also upped the peak brightness to 1,900 nits. General HDR content just pops on this display, especially if you’re watching it in Vivid mode, but if you want something more naturally tuned, you’ve also got a Natural mode.

The high peak brightness of the display is fairly visible under bright direct sunlight as well. Samsung has fixed one of the problems we had with the S23 FE and has reduced the size of the bezels, which is definitely a step in the right direction, but it’s not symmetrical, which I would have definitely appreciated. Plus, it would have been nice to have an LTPO panel and a higher PWM dimming rating. Now, haptic feedback in our testing wasn’t very strong in its impact, but it was tight and precise, so that’s not too bad.

You also get an optical in-display fingerprint scanner—it is really fast to unlock, but it’s placed slightly lower than I would have liked. To close up the multimedia experience, you do get stereo speakers, and these stereo speakers actually sound loud, rich, clear, and crisp

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE : Performance

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE

the new Samsung Galaxy S24 FE, you get the Exynos 2400 E. The only difference between the Exynos 2400 inside the S24 and the S24 Plus and this Exynos 2400E is that the E variant has a slightly lower clocked Prime core.

Samsung says that they’ve done this for better thermal efficiency, and in our Genshin Impact test, where we played the game at the highest graphics and 60 frames per second, we got an average of 53 frames per second, which is not too bad. More importantly, the device skin temperature reached 45.5°C, which is well within our range whenever we test Genshin Impact.

In fact, some phones have even touched 50 and 51°C, so Samsung’s actually done a better job. Plus, there is now a vapor cooling chamber inside this phone. In our CPU throttle test, where we engaged 40 threads for 30 minutes, we got a CPU stability of 65%, and in AnTuTu, we also got a very respectable 1.59 million. More importantly, with the S24 FE, Samsung has added UFS 4.0 storage, which means that the read/write speeds are some of the best or proper flagship grade.

If you don’t want to play Genshin, you can also play Call of Duty at 120 FPS and PUBG at 90 FPS, so that’s pretty good too. After testing it, I’m happy with the performance of the Exynos 2400E—it’s definitely performing better than the Tensor G4 inside the Pixel 9, and that phone is way more expensive. Oh, by the way, I completely forgot: you get support for ray tracing now, for when ray tracing games come in the future, but for now, you can take a look at the solar-based cores.

The phone is also available in two variants, and both variants come with 8GB of LPDDR5X RAM type, and of course, you get either 128GB or 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage. However, I’m not so sure if the base 128GB comes with UFS 4.0 or UFS 3.1.

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE : battery

The S24 FE Samsung has also increased the battery size to about 4,700 mAh, and with the improved 4-nanometer fabrication process of the Exynos 2400E and better thermal efficiency, you can expect better battery life, though we haven’t tested it extensively. Wired charging speeds continue to be 25 watts, and wireless charging speeds are 15 watts, and you can, of course, reverse wireless charge your products on the phone as well. With respect to network connectivity, you get support for 10 5G bands. The call quality was actually pretty good.

We also get support for Wi-Fi 6E, Bluetooth 5.3, and NFC with Samsung Wallet, which, by the way, is one of my favorite features in Samsung phones

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE : software

The Galaxy S24 FE has to be the software experience, so what you get is OneUI 6.1 based on Android 14, and the phone is already running the October security patch. Samsung has been really good with software updates, plus the company also promises 7 years of OS updates and 7 years of security updates, which is the maximum that any company promises for any smartphone. OneUI 6.1 experience feels refined and very nice to use on this phone, and the animations are damn smooth. More importantly, it’s been a stutter-free and bug-free experience, something I can’t even say about the new iOS 18 update.

Apart from that, OneUI also gives you all of the Samsung goodness like Dex, GoodLock, and Samsung Knox. Most importantly, the S24 FE supports all of the Galaxy AI features, which is damn nice. For example, you get call assist, chat assist, interpreter mode, and transcript assist. Circle to Search is here, and it has to be one of my most used AI features. You can also solve math problems, translate text, create PDFs, and even use Sketch to Image for creative editing.

Samsung Galaxy S24 FE : Camera

The camera of the Galaxy S24 FE also extends to AI features. You get instant slow-motion support, so if you shoot a 4K 60 FPS video, play it back in the gallery, and long-press it, you can instantly create a slow-motion video. Samsung intersperses frames to create this, and it’s done exceptionally well. There are other AI tools like AI Background Fill, Recomposition, Remastering Photos, and AI Object Eraser. Features like Portrait Studio, introduced with the Galaxy Z Fold 6, are also available on the S24 FE. The same Pro Visual Engine from the Galaxy S24 Series is used, so you get better night portraits and a Super HDR algorithm.

One interesting feature is the ability to shoot directly with the Instagram camera, capturing super HDR videos and photos that upload directly to the platform. The new ISP and upgraded algorithms mean the phone is taking better photos and videos than the S23 FE, despite the hardware being virtually unchanged. The HDR performance was impressive, and pictures captured by the primary camera show great detail. The 12MP Ultra Wide Angle Camera captures great details, not just in daylight but also in low light, and the 3x camera gives a nice warm look, improving over the S23 FE.

Low-light performance of the primary camera is solid, and 4K 60 FPS recording is supported on both the primary and selfie cameras, with 4K 30 FPS available for ultra-wide and telephoto. The quality of the video and audio recording is excellent, with natural depth of field in videos. In the limited testing done so far, we’re happy with the camera performance.

Conclusion

Limited period offer: the S24 FE is going to be available for 60,000 Rupees for the 256 GB variant, along with a 6,000 Rupee cashback offer. Unlike the FE phones of the past, this model is the closest to the S Series that the FE lineup has ever come. There are far fewer corners being cut, and I really appreciate that.

Compared to the smaller Samsung Galaxy S24, you’ll enjoy better battery life due to the larger battery. In comparison to the larger Galaxy S24 Plus, this model is more affordable and doesn’t compromise on features. I believe Samsung has made the right changes with the Galaxy S24 FE, making it a compelling choice
